Clay, finely grained natural rock, minerals, soil, & water, forms over long periods of time through erosion dating as far back as pre-historic times. The Sunshine Gallery, NY ceramic artist, Colleen Vanderhoef, brings clay to life through technique and creative vision. Each piece of artwork is formed using hand building skills, embellishments, delicate trimming, planned drying time, scientific firing, and painterly glazing. Each step is as important and exciting as the beautiful final piece itself.

"I take great pride in the quality of my artwork. Teaching art classes and creating clay products for nearly 25 years manifests experience and expertise in each of my creations. I studied Art Administration/Education through NYU including museum and abroad programs. My work continues to change with life experiences."
Ceramic forms are created with top quality clay and glazes: red, white, brown, and porcelain clays are used. Due to the drying, shrinkage, and firing processes, the approximate size and color can vary and is expected in all handmade clay forms. The overall process evolves with excitement from start to finish.
My pieces range in price. From precious petite keep sakes to large sculptural vessel forms.I aim to please first time customers, multiple purchases for grouped holiday and special event buying, and returning art collectors. Higher end pieces larger in scale and or detailed in design can take a longer time to create therefore reflective in value, making it that much more enjoyable both physical and visually.

"The Sunshine Gallery is an aptly-named little treasure trove of delightful art pieces to wear, share and smile about! Last weekend I went to the Open House at Bell-Ans Center of Creative Arts in Orangeburg. I didn’t think I would see anyone I knew, but lo and behold! --the first gallery I came to was the one by artist Colleen Vanderhoef, a dear friend and something of a ray of sunshine herself! I know Colleen from my work with the Nanuet Chamber of Commerce’s annual showcase of student art; she was one of the judges for the art contest last year, but has also been an enthusiastic and loyal supporter from its incipiency. It was wonderful to see her and her new space! Her work has a refreshing simplicity and radiance about it; her personality shines through her art and you get an uplifting feeling just being in the space! Whether you are looking for a unique piece of jewelry or porcelain ware or something different for that special gift—you must visit The Sunshine Gallery!",
- Linda Stankard, New York
"I love, love, love my beautiful handmade black porcelain necklace from Colleen! Her unique style and passion for clay and art radiate from this piece. I get compliments on it wherever I go. Love that I can wear Colleen's artwork and keep a little piece of her magic close to me!."
- Tracy D.-P., New York
